Eastern Bluebird and Myrtle Warbler

Eastern Bluebird Sialia sialis

While birding along Three Bridges Road this afternoon Miriam and I were very fortunate to see a male Eastern Bluebird and a Myrtle Warbler in the same tree. As a matter of fact a male Downy Woodpecker was also present, but before we could get a picture it flew off.
For several years Eastern Bluebirds have successfully bred along Three Bridges Road, where numerous nest boxes have been provided. Rarely, a few birds do not migrate south, but spend the winter in our area. Who knows, perhaps this male will hang around to be first on territory with a nest location for a returning female next spring?
