Spur-winged Lapwing

Spur-winged Lapwing Vanellus spinosus
Ethiopia
January 2014

This very handsome species was found throughout our trip in
Ethiopia wherever there was suitable wetland. It was certainly the most common plover we would see; always a delight, however.

  6. It is a handsome bird, and one that's especially interesting for me to see as our Masked Lapwing in Australia used to have that name, and it had to be changed because of the clash of names!
