C'mon Let's be Friends

At Our Feeder
22 June 2014

This Chipping Sparrow Spizella passerina and this House Finch Haemorhous mexicanus were feeding together at opposite ports on the feeder trying for all the world to ignore each other!

Predictably, they got into a squabble, and the bigger House Finch won the day and was left in charge of the feeder.

Maybe one day they'll just all get along!

  1. Beautiful photos, David.
Indeed, in the top picture they ignore each other completely.
    Best wishes,

  3. Well he is a big bruiser. Not one to argue with.

  4. Not so much Beauty & The Beast, as Beauty is The Beast!

So it looks like Phil and I are going to have a chippie competition next year, eh! I'll raise the bar by saying that the local chippie that Lindsay and I dropped in at for our tea yesterday had Leonardo DiCaprio as a customer earlier this month! However, I won't risk offence, by offering my views on mushy peas!!!

    1. Well, next year you'll be able to brag that you had tea there with David Gascoigne. That will certainly swell their patronage and you may wish to start to consider the wording of the plaque on the wall. Yours in humility, David

    2. Sadly, I have to admit that, in one respect, Phil's offering is superior to mine - Vinnies doesn't have a sit-in facility. We'd have to bring the spoils back to our humble abode! Does that mean that we get the plaque on the wall instead?
