Golden-breasted Starling Lamprotornis regius
Mega Area, Ethiopia
18 January 2014
This slender, long-tailed starling, with brilliant iridescent green, blue and purple on the upperparts and throat, with a golden-yellow chest and belly was one of the most spectacular species we saw in Ethiopia. Below I posted images of Superb Starling; perhaps this one ought to be named More Superb Starling!
Beautiful pictures of the Golden-breasted Starling, David.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very nice weekend.
Greetings Irma
That's got to be one of the most spectacular birds on the planet, David. Others may look ridiculous in order to pretend to the title, but this one carries it off with panache! Beautifully captured!
ReplyDeleteHoping your weather is picking up there. Our Spring has come early.
Pięknie kolorowy:)
ReplyDeleteI like colors. It's gorgeous. Wish you a nice Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning bird. There really are some beautiful ones in Ethiopia.
ReplyDeleteThe birding was great and there are indeed stunning species to see.
DeleteHaha!
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is even more superb than the previous one!
What a great catch!
And these colors against this bright blue sky are a real wonder!
Great shots, David!
What a beautiful bird with its beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful pictures too.

Hi again, David!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you manage to to spot and shoot all the species you're after in July!!
It takes me hours in hides to get my pics!! ;-)
But you are a photographer first and foremost, Noushka. I am a birder first and a photographer second. And my entire equipment consists of one SX40 Canon Powershot. That's it! And I shoot everything on automatic. My photographs shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as yours!
DeleteIt is superb David. Me thinks you are right that it is probably more spectacular than the actual Superb Starling - is that the one which is shades of blue only?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Very nice to visit your blog and learn about birds you never seem
