One of the great pleasures of leading bird walks is that I get to meet new people. It was not so long ago, on an outing to Lake Ontario, that I first had the pleasure of getting to know Adrienne Zoe, an accomplished local photographer.
Adrienne is passionate about her art, much of it involves nature, although she is always eager to explore other subjects and experiment with new techniques, to enhance her work and her enjoyment of it.
Born in Borneo, Adrienne came to Canada via the USA where she worked for ten years as an electrical engineer. Adrienne decided to take a break from what was a stressful job and visit her parents who had settled in Vancouver.
The die was cast. She loved Canada, never returned to the United States, and we are the beneficiaries. She has resided in Ontario since 2002.
Adrienne was determined to pursue her passion for photography and never again worked as an electrical engineer.
The awards started to pour in - and they continue to this day!
There are those who profess to care little for public recognition, but Adrienne is proud of her success and the attention it has garnered; the awards validate her approach to her art.
Adrienne's work is on display, and is for sale, at the Uptown Gallery in Waterloo, and often you may find her on duty there. Stop by and have a chat.
She is always happy to talk about her oeuvre and explain how she achieves the remarkable results that she does.
Many of her photographs form the basis for a series of nature-themed cards, all quite exquisite.
Of this, I speak from personal experience.
Wildlife photography is not for the faint of heart, and winter camping in Algonquin Park is sometimes what is needed to get that perfect opportunity for a memorable picture.
During COVID (will it go on forever?) it has been more important than ever to support local artists.
This is an unabashed plug for Adrienne, a great artist and a benefactor in our community. A percentage of all her sales go towards various conservation organizations.
Here are the ways in which you may contact Adrienne, or view her work.

Felicidades a Adrienne por sus magníficas capturas. Le deseo que siga siempre con su pasión por la naturaleza y compartiendo la belleza que ve.
ReplyDeleteBuena noche David.
Abrazos.
Beautiful photo's. I spent some time today staring out the window at a Blue Bird sitting on the rail of my deck. I wanted to move to get my phone to get a picture, but didn't. Figured my moving would cause it to fly away. Taking good photo's of birds is no easy task.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Wonderful photography and the cards are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI apologise for not being on line much. I had a bad fall out walking a couple of weeks back, sadly causing some damage to my lens which we are trying to get a spare part for. I think I cracked a rib, and I was black and blue and very sore. Just on the mend when I cracked my shin on the wheelbarrow yesterday, my leg ballooned and turned blue so an urgent trip to the Dr. I am now heavily bandaged with a compression bandage for the next 10days!!!
Otherwise all is well !!
Take care and keep safe Diane
Wow. Her work is spectacular, David. I can see why you are drawn to it, both for subject matter and the fine quality. And on behalf of local artists everywhere, thanks for giving a shout out to supporting them!
ReplyDeleteI've been over to look at Adrienne's web site, David, and am most impressed! Makes me realise just how inferior my amateur efforts are.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes - - - Richard

Hi David - I can quite see why you're captivated with Adrienne - what an amazing photographer ... and I'm so pleased to be introduced to her via your blog. Certainly if I was anywhere near Waterloo I'd be over like a shot to see some more of her work - it is stunning. Thanks - fabulous work ... and those shots must totally draw you in - captured perfectly in their natural habitat - so I really appreciate you sharing her with us - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteAll good stuff - nice to see the joy of nature being spread like this !
ReplyDeleteElle fait de très belles photos! Cela doit demander beaucoup de patience, attendre longtemps pour avoir le meilleur cliché. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteBon weekend
Her work is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think the chickadee series is my favorite. They are faithful visitors to my feeders year around and very friendly, often buzzing my hair as I am filling the feeders or chattering at me from a branch right overhead.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to be able to meet new and interesting people such as this great artist who does a job full of beauty. The world of photography is one of my passions to which I hope to dedicate a little more time than until now and this artist is very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteMany kisses.

ReplyDeleteOh I love reading about this remarkable person and getting to see some of her photos! WOW! She is very talented and works hard for her great shots. What a good post, David! I appreciate it very much. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteA fantastic post and a wonderful introduction to Adrienne. If I could make my home in Canada, never to return to the US I would also. :) Here photography is magnificent and the awards well earned. As you wrote it is more important now to support artists. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteWow, these photo's are wonderful! Espescially the chikadees wit their spreaded wings and tale and I also love the set of cards. Great work from this lady.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs from grey and chilly Holland.
