For anyone who knows Miriam, either personally, or via this blog, it will come as no surprise that as soon as we learned that Heather was pregnant, she resolved to make a quilt for the new baby - and we knew it would be a girl.
A couple of years ago, before she was even married, Heather had brought over an afghan she had been crocheting to ask a little advice of Miriam, and it involved creating a border for a piece made of hexagons, a shape Heather liked. Miriam remembered this and incorporated that shape into the quilt she made for Lily.
No doubt a charge of bias could be levelled against me, but I think Miriam did a remarkable job, and created a work of great beauty, with precision and attention to detail that is second to none.
Heather was thrilled. But best of all Lily liked it too!
We hope that she will enjoy it as much as she appears to be doing here for many years to come.
The term "Labour of Love" may be a little overworked; this quilt truly was!

ReplyDeleteMiram made a beautiful quilt for Lily! I am sure it will be treasured. Take care, Enjoy your day!
I love the quilt, with its predominant pink colours, and I greatly admire Miriam's multi-talents: photographic, culinary, sewing etc..
ReplyDeleteMay God give her long years of creative activity!
The quilt is gorgeous, just right for lovely princess Lily. I'm sure she will enjoy growing up with it, bedded on roses, and it will be an absolute family treasure. Kudos to Miriam and blessings for Lily! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThose colors are so beautiful and her workmanship divine. Love that you showed the back of the quilt. The piecing is always the showstopper but a lot of the work is the actual back quilting, I think! Well done -- I know it will be loved forever.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful - delicate colours and so neatly and expertly worked. And it's fun too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt was beautifully made, David. Miriam makes wonderful quilting. Lily is a lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, made with love and I am sure will become a treasured heirloom.
ReplyDeleteHi both,
ReplyDeleteWhat a remarkable quilt, so very well done Miriam, and best of all the correct colour and Lilly appears to really love it.
You both stay safe and well

ReplyDeleteYou may indeed be biased, but you are also right. Emphatically right.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure Miriam has created, for the brand new treasure that is Lily.
Miriam, what a great work you made. The pattern, the colours it is wonderful and good to see Lily enjoys it as well.
ReplyDeleteRegards,

This quilt is beautiful, and beautifully done. I'm a bit prejudiced on finishes, and I'm so happy to see it is finished and bound exactly as I do/would have done. No distracting borders, just sew it to the edge and bind it. Done. Beautiful, Miriam.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
DeleteSuch a lovely precious sight!
ReplyDeleteHola Amigos, buenas noches! a true labor of love of Miriam for the sweet newborn Lily. Hmm.. i think that style is called patchwork and it's very pretty. Cozy and warmth.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful night, with peace, joy and love observing that beautiful babygirl.
A beautiful quilt, beautifully done. I still have a quilt my grandmother and her friends pieced before I was born. It's a pattern called Grandmother's Flower Garden, and it's also done with hexagons. I know that this one will be equally treasured!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt. It was good seeing Lily lying on it as the quilt was a lot larger than I had realised. Miriam is very talented but you already know that.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely quilt for a precious baby! The quilt design wasn't an easy one, and Miriam nailed it. You are blessed and will get some major rocking with singing baby lullabies.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBaby AND quilt. And there can be no overworking of the phrase "Labour of Love"!
Apart from the fact that you are allowed to be biased (in fact, we expect you to be!), the quilt looks really beautiful. It is easy to see how much TLC has gone into making it :)

ReplyDeleteHi Miriam and David,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I love it, pink is my favourite color and Miriam choose lovely patterns and remembered the hexagon shape that Heather likes and made someting wonderful out of it. I'm glad Heather and Lily like it very much (but I think that's obvious). It's very nice that you can create such beautiful pieces of 'art'. And of course David, you can be proud of Miriam.
All the best from your friend from Holland,
Marianne
