LaSalle Park and Marina, Burlington, ON
Yesterday I was fortunate to lead a group of dedicated birders on a day's excursion to the North Shore of Lake Ontario.
A full report of this outing will follow in a few days, but in the meantime I wanted to share a series of exquisite photographs of a pair of Mute Swans (Cygnus olor) taken by Dave Collins, an accomplished photographer and keen wit.
The images really show the incredible beauty of this species, and it is easy to understand that humans react with pleasure to this grandest of birds.
It is difficult not to infer human expressions of fidelity and affection to the close bonding of these birds.
I am abundantly grateful to Dave for always sharing his pictures so generously, and in this instance it was his wife, Mary, who came up with the title.
Gee, this business of blogging is easy!
I love how graceful they are. Beautiful shots!

Hi David,
ReplyDeletemute swans have a really majestic way of moving. And, when they spread their wings, their size is impressive. Your friends images show how elegant they can move together.
Best regards, Corrie
