Happy Hanukkah, David and Miriam!
ReplyDeleteOur daughter has a jewish friend (in Canada!), who has assured her that it is acceptable to take up the jewish faith temporarily so that she can foresake her low-carb diet and eat doughnuts. Sounds a bit dodgy to me!!
The doughnuts are one thing, Richard, but it is the latkes that are the best of all! A good latke, especially one made from the recipe of a bubby passed from generation to generation, is addictive at the first bite!
DeleteJammie latkes, are you and Miriam familiar with this recepy David? Love Latkes but soufganiot are also so tasty. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1015533-classic-potato-latkes
DeleteRegards,
Roos
I will check it out, Roos. Years ago I knew a guy, whose wife made the best latkes in the universe, from a recipe passed down from her great, grandmother who had arrived in Canada, having escaped a pogrom in Eastern Europe. I looked forward to Hanukkah each year just for her latkes. I think she actually made extras just for me, in addition to the ones I ate at her house!
DeleteHappy Hanukkah David... The Blues jay so beautiful... Cheers
ReplyDeleteHappy Channukkah David and Miriam!
